Bluetooth Music Headphones- Great Sound For The Frugal
Finding a quality set of headphones when you love music as much as I do is one of the most difficult tasks on earth. There are hundreds of thousands of headphones on the market: closed-back, earbuds, noise canceling, in-ear, on-ear, open-back, over-ear, and Bluetooth. After a few hours of research, I stumbled onto the Senso ActivBuds Bluetooth Headphones over at Amazon and decided to give them a shot. After I whip out the credit card and fill out the required fields, I get an order confirmation and an estimated delivery date.
Unpacking & First Impressions
After about 4 days, my delivery arrives at the doorstep in a manila envelope with the bubble wrap. Like a kid in the candy store, I rush to rip open the package and dump its contents out. What I must say is that a lot of thought went into providing customers with great value. Included in the snazzy little box is 3 different sized ear tips, a wire tie, carry case, dual port car charger, short mini charging cable for use with Android devices and a 3-foot lightning charging cable for the Apple fanatics. Unlike other headphones that seem to nickel and dime the consumer to get extra features, these provide more than anyone could ask for and does so weighing under 5 ounces.
Comfortable Or Nah?
Sidebar: I HATE sticking things in my ear (Q-Tips Included). Over the years, I’ve attempted to wear various types of earbuds and usually 1 of 2 things would happen: 1. They would fall out randomly or when doing some type of physical activity like running lifting weights or 2. They would get uncomfortable after 5-10 minutes of use. So even with all the great goodies that come included, it wouldn’t make the difference in the world if the headphones themselves are unbearable after a short period. What I found is that these headphones are SUPER COMFORTABLE. The ear hooks are made out of a flexible rubber material that allows you to get the right adjustment when putting them in. The ear tips are comprised of a foam and gel material that drowns out all the surrounding noises including those who choose to annoy you at the gym with a million and one questions.
Ease Of Connectivity
So they pass one of the more scrupulous test that I usually have. Now comes the next task for my headphones test: how difficult would the process of pairing them be? The Senso ActivBuds comes with Bluetooth 4.1 capabilities. What does this mean? In simpler words, it allows you listen to your music skip-free for up to 30 feet. After opening the Bluetooth settings in my phone, I was able to find the Activbuds and connect to them with ease. One caveat I noticed is your device that you’re connecting the item you’re connecting to have to remain within eye view. Whenever I walk around corners in the gym, I tend to get the occasional disconnection. When I walk back within the view of my phone, I am automatically reconnected. The Activbuds can also be connected to 2 smartphones at the same time and have easily recognizable controls for volume control and playback
How Do They Sound?
Sound Quality is one are where these headphones shine the most. They have full stereo sound with clean bass and high treble that makes for a great team like a pb&j sandwich. From artists like Travis Scott to Kanye West, all of my favorite records have sounded phenomenal through the Activbuds. At times, it feels like I was in the studio when the records were created with passive noise cancellation as another added feature.
Typically with great wireless headsets, you have to make a choice between great sound and battery life. With Senso ActivBuds you can get up to 8 hours of playback on a single charge and not have to sacrifice audio quality while doing so. I’ve personally never listened to them for that prolonged period so I found myself needing to charge them once after a week of use when working out for an hour or two. It takes a little under 2 hours for a full charge.
Even with the minor hiccups, I can confidently say that the Senso Activbuds are a worthy purchase. When researching the other types of headphones on the market, the average was between $70-$100. Surprisingly, they’re under $40, which includes shipping. With a price tag like that, it’s hard to pass up on this great deal. What are your thoughts on them? Feel free to leave a comment.
